Sony Delays FlexStrike Fight Stick Indefinitely, Missing Marvel Tokon's August Launch

The $200 wireless PS5 stick won't ship on August 6 as planned, but Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is still arriving on time.

Sony's first official fight stick for the PlayStation 5 won't make its date. The FlexStrike wireless fight stick, originally set to launch August 6 alongside the fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, has been pushed back indefinitely.

What Sony Said

In an update posted to the PlayStation Blog, Sony blamed the setback on manufacturing trouble. "Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date," the company wrote. The August 6 ship date is now off the table, and Sony hasn't offered a new one, promising more information "soon."

The company framed the delay as a quality decision, saying it's "taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product" to "deliver the best possible experience." Players who pre-ordered through direct.playstation.com are told to check their order status on the site, while those who ordered from other retailers should contact those stores directly.

Crucially, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls itself is unaffected. Both Kotaku and The Verge confirm the Arc System Works tag-team fighter, which Sony is publishing, still launches August 6 as scheduled. That leaves anyone who wanted to pair the game with Sony's own stick on day one out of luck.

The Stick and Its Price

The FlexStrike carries a $200 price tag, putting it right alongside its main rivals. According to Kotaku, that lines up with the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha at $200 and sits just under the Razer Kitsune at $220. PC compatibility, according to Sony, will roll out sometime after launch rather than at release.

Kotaku got hands-on time with the peripheral at Evo 2026 and came away impressed with its build. The outlet's writer highlighted the ergonomics, noting the stick tilts upward toward the back so "my wrists fall in a more natural position than if it was flat," and said Marvel Tokon's default controls "felt incredibly intuitive on the fight stick."

The delay lands during a busy stretch for Sony's accessory push. The company still plans to ship a new desktop speaker and a 27-inch gaming monitor on August 27, and both of those, per Kotaku, remain on track. The FlexStrike is the odd one out.

What This Means for Players

If you were counting on grabbing Sony's own fight stick to jump into Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls at launch, you'll need a backup plan for August 6, whether that's an existing arcade stick, a competitor like the Hori Alpha or Razer Kitsune, or a standard controller. The game arrives on schedule regardless. Anyone holding a FlexStrike pre-order should keep an eye on their order status, since Sony has yet to commit to a new window and only says details are coming soon. For now, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is the release to circle on the calendar, with the FlexStrike a purchase to revisit whenever Sony sorts out its production issues.
