Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced received its last major content update on October 27. Version 1.0.8 brings New Game Plus, a punishing Nightmare difficulty, and a batch of returning takedown animations. Ubisoft says future patches will be limited to quality-of-life tweaks and bug fixes.
According to Eurogamer, the patch went live at 7am PT on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It weighs between 2 and 4.5GB on most platforms, but Eurogamer puts the Xbox download at 15.5GB. The game launched on July 9, 2026, per Gamebonk's release tracker, and Eurogamer reports that work on New Game Plus started that same month.

New Game Plus runs up to five times
Players can restart Edward Kenway's story while keeping most of what they've earned: tools, weapons, trinkets, Jackdaw upgrades, officer abilities, pets, outfits, hideout progress, Kenway fleet ships, codex entries and store purchases. Quest items are stripped out. Officers have to be recruited again, and forts must be recaptured because the map's fog resets.
Each new cycle gets harder, up to a fifth run. Elite soldiers show up more frequently and max rank ships begin patrolling. A new currency, Escudos, comes from challenges and from looting chests you've already opened. It buys outfits and items exclusive to the mode, and Reales can be swapped for Escudos at the General Store.

Nightmare mode removes the safety net
Ubisoft's patch notes describe the new difficulty bluntly: "No second chances. No mercy." The full list includes:
- Enemies deal 1.8 times damage, ranged foes fire more often, and attacks no longer flash a white glint
- Tighter parry windows, and no protection from one-shot deaths even at high health
- Faster detection and longer investigations, with enemies hearing anything quicker than a walk
- Edward must perch at least 6 metres above enemies to stay hidden, up from 4
- Heavier ship damage, stronger sharks and harpooned wildlife, double damage from urchins and jellyfish, and faster oxygen drain
The update also hides fresh community chests, some carrying rewards players asked for. It restores hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade takedowns from the original 2013 game, adds cosmetics including pet skins, and fixes bugs such as offline mode failing when the server connection drops.
Rock Paper Shotgun notes the patch arrives in the same month Ubisoft laid off 70 staff at Ubisoft Singapore, the remake's lead studio. Eurogamer adds that a Switch 2 version appears to be on the way and should include all the content released so far.
