The Duskbloods will no longer launch in 2026. FromSoftware has moved its Switch 2 exclusive into a 2027 window, and it has not named a specific date or narrower timeframe within that year.

The studio announced the change on October 29 in a post from the game's official X account. "While development of The Duskbloods is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027," the statement read, adding an apology to players who had been waiting and thanks for their patience.

Network test feedback drove the decision

A follow-up message tied the delay directly to the game's network test in August. "During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression," FromSoftware said. "To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing."

The studio did not say which specific issues it plans to address. Kotaku reports that criticism from the test centred on the game being confusing about what players should be doing at a given moment, and its reviewer also felt the experience leaned too heavily on PvP. Eurogamer notes that the first test session ended early because of major connectivity problems, though later sessions ran more smoothly.

A delay many fans expected

FromSoftware had only ever attached a vague 2026 window to the multiplayer action game, and with the year running out, players had been bracing for a slip. Eurogamer points out that neither FromSoftware nor publisher Nintendo had shared news since the August playtests, and that a September launch had been floated before passing without any release.

Interest in the game remains high regardless. Both VGC and Eurogamer report that more people applied for the closed network test than for Elden Ring Nightreign's, despite The Duskbloods being limited to a single platform.

Gamebonk's release tracker now lists The Duskbloods for 2027 on Switch 2, with the date tracked only to the year.
