Warhammer Survivors, Auroch Digital's Games Workshop flavoured bullet heaven, will launch on November 10. A release date trailer and a replacement demo arrived alongside the announcement. Gamebonk's release tracker lists the game for PC, GOG, PS5, Xbox and Switch.

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the developers confirmed pricing in a Steam post: £6.39, $7.99 or €7.49, with a 10% discount on Steam during launch week. The full game is set to include more than 40 Warhammer characters you can lead or recruit into your squad while fending off the swarms that fill the screen in this genre.

The new demo adds two champions

Auroch has pulled the previous demo from Steam and put a new one in its place. Rock Paper Shotgun reports that it introduces two new champions, the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Ravenya, along with new weapons and abilities and a round of changes based on player feedback from the earlier build.

Skulls, Nuln oil and rescued followers

PC Gamer, which put 10 hours into the demo, describes a game that keeps most of the Vampire Survivors toolkit (weapon evolutions, arcana, chest drops, challenges) and reskins it for Warhammer. Experience gems become experience skulls, and the role of the Red Death is filled by Extremis bosses that seem unkillable until you work out how to bring them down.

Some of the weapons lean on the hobby itself. Nuln oil, a paint familiar to anyone who has shaded miniatures, damages and slows enemies while making them more flammable, and explosive dice roll across the field before detonating.

Other details from PC Gamer's time with the demo:

  • You pick a universe first, Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, and characters, upgrades and unlocks are kept separate between them.
  • Maps include a battlefield being consumed by tyranids, a skaven stage in Age of Sigmar, and one set on a tabletop strewn with paints and measuring tape.
  • Unlockable characters can be rescued mid-fight and then join you as followers, returning in later runs when you choose one of their weapons on level up.
  • Enemy factions have their own traits: tyranid synapse creatures enrage nearby lesser bugs, and Orks can kick off a WAAAGH that makes them faster, stronger and more numerous.

PC Gamer found the game harder than Vampire Survivors, with fights escalating faster, though the outlet noted the demo's smaller pool of weapons and characters could be a factor. The game is singleplayer, and while Auroch says it is still working on Steam Deck compatibility, PC Gamer reports it already runs well on the handheld.
