Prime subscribers can stream the single-player side of the new Star Wars racer through Luna Standard, though Kotaku found the stream noticeably blurry.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on Xbox, PS5 and PC on October 6, and Amazon added it to Luna the same day, so anyone with an Amazon Prime subscription can stream it at no extra cost. Gamebonk's release tracker also lists the October 6 date, with the game on PC, PS5, Steam and Xbox.

The racer joins Luna Standard, the streaming tier bundled with Prime. According to VGC, that tier offers more than 80 games to stream. Polygon notes the library already includes titles such as Control and Death Stranding. Luna was formerly known as Prime Gaming, as VGC points out, and it now handles both Amazon's streaming catalog and its monthly batch of claimable PC games.

There is a catch. The Luna version covers only the single-player races and events, with the multiplayer features left out, according to Kotaku.

Kotaku finds the stream responsive but blurry

Kotaku's Zack Zwiezen, who reviewed Galactic Racer and called it one of the best arcade racers he has played in years, tried the Luna build on launch day. The game mixes roguelike progression with high-speed racing, including podracing, and his only real complaint in the review was about repetitive hub areas between events.

On Luna, he said the game booted within seconds from a webpage with no downloads or updates, and on his connection he did not notice any input lag, which he flagged as essential for a racer this fast. Image quality was another matter. Zwiezen reported low-resolution textures, pop-in, visual artifacts and a general softness that undercut the sharp detail he saw on console and PC.

His verdict was that the stream works as a quick way to sample the game, but that players who like it should move to a console or PC version for the full experience.

The rest of Amazon's October lineup

Galactic Racer is not the only Luna Standard addition this month. Polygon reports that Sonic X Shadow Generations, which pairs a remaster of Sonic Generations with a new Shadow campaign, is now streamable, alongside the arcade shooter Space Metal Mania.

Separately, Prime members get 10 PC games to claim and keep in October. Unlike PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass titles, these arrive as codes for storefronts such as GOG, the Epic Games Store and Amazon's own launcher, so they stay in a player's library even after a Prime subscription ends. Polygon and VGC list the same schedule:

  • Available now: Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit (Epic Games Store), Doom (GOG)
  • October 8: Conarium (GOG), WarBreeds (GOG)
  • October 15: Vampire: The Masquerade: Swansong (Epic Games Store), Caravan SandWitch (Amazon Games App)
  • October 22: Ad Infinitum (Epic Games Store), Time Travel: Escape Room Game (Legacy Games)
  • October 29: Trash Goblin (Epic Games Store), Kiborg (Amazon Games App)

Some of September's offers are still claimable before they rotate out over the course of the month. VGC lists Botany Manor, Doom Eternal, Rims Racing and High on Life among them, and Polygon adds that the original two Doom games remain available for a limited time as well.
